Question

A cylinder of certain mass is held in vertical position. If the height of the cylinder is 10 cm and radius of cross-section is 4 cm such that the pressure acting on its bottom surface is 21560 N m2, then find the mass of the cylinder?

Solution

We know pressure is P=weightarea
A=πr2=π×(4×102)2m2=16π×104 m2
P=21560N/m2
So
P=21560=mg16×π×104 , g=10m/s2
So m=10.8Kg
