Solution

Let the present age of the son be 'x' years.

Then father's age will be (x+30) years

After 12 years,

Son's age =x+12 years

Father's age =(x+30)+12=x+42 years

According to question,

After 12 years,
Father's age =3× Son's age

x+42=3(x+12)

x+42=3x+36

4236=3xx

6=2x

x=62

x=3

The present age of son is 3 years and the present age of the father is x+30=3+30=33 years.
