A floor of the room 12 m long and 8 m wide is to be covered by square tiles. If each square tile is 0.8 m, what is the cost of tiling at the rate of Rs. 7 per tile?
Length of the floor = 12 m
Breadth of the floor = 8 m
Area of the floor = length x breadth
= 12 × 8
= 96 m2
Also, area of floor
= Total area of tiles
= Area of one tile x number of tiles
Area of one square tile = side x side
= 0.8 × 0.8 m2
= 0.64 m2
Therefore, number of tiles required
= Area of floorArea of one tile
= 960.64
= 150 tiles
For 1 tile, the cost of tiling is Rs 7 .
For 150 tiles, the cost of tiling
= Cost per one tile x number of tiles
= 7 × 150
= Rs. 1050
