A force of 100N acts on the surface of area 10cm2 normally. What are the thrust and pressure on the surface?

Solution :

Given - Force =100 N

Area = 10 cm 2 = 10 X 10 -4 m2

Therefore Pressure = Force / area

= 100 / 10 X 10 -4

= 10 X 10 4 Pa

The force acting on an object perpendicular to the surface is called thrust. Therefore thrust is 100N
Thrust=Force=100N
