The correct option is C 15
Let the original fraction be xy.
It is given that fraction becomes 4 when 1 is added to both the numerator and denominator and it becomes 7 when 1 is subtracted from both, therefore,
x+1y+1=4x+1=4y+4x4y=3........(1)x1y1=7x1=7y7x7y=6........(2)
Now subtract equation 1 from equation 2:
x7yx+4y=63
3y=9
y=3
Substitute the value of y in equation 1:
x4(3)=3
x12=3
x=3+12=15
Therefore, the fraction is 153 and hence the numerator of the fraction is 15.
