Question

A girl weighing 25 kg stands on te floor . She exerts a downward force of 250 N on the floor . What force does the floor exert on her ?

Solution

Dear student, The force exerted by a body by virtue of its mass is called weight . we can also call it force of gravity. which is m×a Here m = 25 kg a = 10 m/s² (acceleration due to gravity) Thus weight of body is W = 250N According to Newton's Third Law Every action has equal and opposite reaction. So, from the above statement we can say that Thrust (or force) exerted by girl = Normal reaction (or force exerted by floor). Means, The floor will exert force of 250 newton on her.
