Solution

Let present age of the son = x years

present age of the man = 3x years In 12 years :

Son's age will be = (x + 12) years

The man's age will be = (3x + 12) years

According to the statement :

3x+12=2(x+12) 3x+12=2x+24 3x2x=2412 x=12 3x=3×12=36

Hence, present age of the man = 36 years

Present age of the son = 12 years.
