Basic rate per hour$=Rs.\left(\frac{20}{40}\right)=Rs.\frac{1}{2}$
Overtime per hour$=125percentofRs.\frac{1}{2}=\frac{125}{100}\times \frac{1}{2}=Rs.\frac{5}{8}$
Suppose he worked $x$ hours overtime.
Then,
$20+\frac{5}{8}x=25or\frac{5}{8}x=5$
$x=\frac{5\times 8}{5}=8hours$
So he worked in all for $(40+8)hours=48hours$
