The correct option is A16m x=40+12t−t3 ∴Velocity,v=dxdt=12−3t2
When particle comes to rest, dxdt=v=0 ∴12−3t2=03t2=12⇒t=2seconds
Distance travelled by the particle before coming to rest is |x2−x0|=|(40+12×2−23)−(40+12×0−03)|=16m
