A particle starts to move from rest with an acceleration of 4 ms2 for 4 seconds. Find the distance travelled in 4th second.
14 m
We know, acceleration, a= 4 ms2 and initial velocity, u= 0
Using second equation of motion
⇒S = ut + 12at2
The distance covered in 3 second is:
⇒S = 0×3 + 12×4×32
⇒S = 2×32
⇒S = 18 m
The distance covered in 4 seconds is:
⇒S = 0×4 + 12×4×42
⇒S = 2×42
⇒S = 32 m
Distance covered in 4th second
= Distance covered in 4 seconds - Distance covered in 3 seconds
=32 m - 18 m
=14 m
