A rectangular swimming pool 30m long,20m wide, 1.5m deep is to be tiled.If each tile is 50m ×50m,how many times will be required. (Remember there is no roof.)

Length, l= 30 m ; breadth, b = 20 m ; height, h= 1.5 m Area to be tiled = Total surface area - Area of the top

Total surface area = 2(lb + lh + bh) = 2(600 + 30 + 45) = 2 (675 )= 1350 m​²

Area of the top = 30×20 = 600 m²

Area to be tiled = 1350 - 600 = 750 m² = 75,00,000 cm​² side of each tile, s = 50 cm

Area of each tile = s​² = 50² = 2500 cm²

∴Number of tiles that will be required = 75,00,000 / 2500 = 3000
