A room is7 m long and 5 m broad and it has a door measuring 2 m by 1.5 m and two windows each measuring 1.5 m by 1 m. The cost of painting the walls at Rs. 12.50 per sq.m is Rs. 825. Find the height of the room.

Area of the walls to be painted = Area of 4 faces of the room - Area of the door Area of 2 windows
=(7× h)+(7× h)+(5× h)+(5× h)(2×1.5)(1.5×1)(1.5×1)=24h33=24h6
Area of wall painted =Total cost of painting the wallCost of painting 1 sq.m of the wall
=82512.5=66sq.m
Thus, 24h6=66
24h=72
h=7224=3m
Thus the height of the room is 3 m.
