A school play ground is rectangular in shape with length $80 m$ and breadth $60 m$ . A cemented pathway running all around i ton its outside of width $2 m$ is built. Find the cost of cementing if the rate cementing $1 s q . m$ is $R s 20$

Area of pathway $=$ Area of bigger rectangle $-$ Area of smaller rectangle
(Area of rectangle $-$ length $\times$ breadth)
$\Rightarrow$ Area of pathway $= 80 \times 60 - 78 \times 58$
$= 4800 - 4524$
$= 276 m^{2}$
Total cost $= R s . 276 \times 20 = R s . 55.20$
