If a person travels 10km, he pays Rs.68 and for travelling 15 km,he pays Rs.98 Express the above statements with the help of simultaneous equations and hence, find the fixed charges and the rate per km.

converting the given data into equations,

$x+10y=68$

$x+15y=98$

solving the above two equations, we get,

$x=8$

$y=6$

Therefore,

fixed charge is $8$

rate per km is $6$
