An $80 k g$ man stands on a spring balance in an elevator. When it start to move, the scale reads $700 N$ . What is the acceleration of the elevator? $(g = 10 {m s}^{- 2})$

Reading of spring balance $= m (\to g - \to a)$ where, $\to a$ is acceleration of elevator
Here, $m (\to g - \to a) = 700 N$
$\Rightarrow 80 (10 - a) = 700 N$
$\Rightarrow 10 - a = \frac{70}{8}$
$\Rightarrow a = 10 - 8.75 = 1.25 m / s^{2}$
