  2. Therefore mass number of the element = 40 and atomic number = 18
  3. Atomicnumber=no.ofprotons, therefore no. of protons = 18
  4. no.ofprotons=no.ofelectrons, therefore no. of electrons = 18
  5. Since massnumber=no.ofprotons+no.ofneutrons,
  6. no.ofneutrons=massnumber-no.ofprotons
  7. Therefore no. of neutrons = 40-18=22

Hence,

  1. e= 18
  2. p= 18
  3. n= 22
  4. Electronic configuration = KLM288 OR 2,8,8
