An object suspended from a spring balance weighs 10 N when completely submerged in water. If the reading of spring balance is 15 N when it is in air, find the upthrust and the weight of displaced water.

We know that ,
Upthrust = weight of object in air - weight of object in water
= 15 N10 N
= 5 N

Also, the weight of liquid displaced = apparent loss in weight of the object that's immersed in water = 5 N
