You decided that the front side of the house would be painted with a different paint to give the house a special look. The painter charged Rs 5 per 1 m2 to paint the wall, as shown in the figure. Calculate the area to be painted and the money to be paid to the painter.

The painter has to paint the wall which has a door whose dimensions are 3m × 2m and that of the wall are 8m × 8m.

The correct option is C

58 m2, Rs 290


Since the door is not to be painted, we have to subtract the area of door from that of wall's area.
Wall's area = 8m × 8m = 64 m2
Door's area = 3m × 2m = 6 m2

Area to be painted = 64 - 6 = 58 m2
It costs Rs 5 per m2

Cost to paint = 58 × 5 = Rs 290
