Question

Asending order of bond angle? (1)ClO2 (2)H2O (3)OF2 (4)OCl2

Open in App
Solution

The principle is that the larger the atoms on the two sides are, the wider the angle between them.
H2O with two hydrogens and bond angle of 109.5o
ClO2 with two oxygen atoms and bond angle of 111o
F2O with two fluorine atoms and bond angle of 104.5o

OCl2 with two chlorine atoms and bond angle of 109.47
Hence,, the ascending order of bond angle is as follows,
F2O < OCl2 < H2O < ClO2
