Question

By selling two transistors for Rs 600, each a shopkeeper gains 20% percent on one transistor and loses 20% percent on the other. Find total C.P and total S.P of both the transistors.

Solution

Cost price (CP) of each transistor = Rs 600

CP of two transistors = 2×600=Rs.1200

Let the Selling Price of one transistor be SP1 and that of the other be SP2.

Since, he gains 20% on one transistor, therefore,

SP1=100+Gain%100×CP

=100+20100×600

=120100×600

SP1=Rs.720

Similarly, he losses 20% on the other transistor, therefore,

SP2=100Loss%100×CP

=10020100×600

=80100×600

SP1=Rs.480

Hence, total selling price of the two transistor = SP1+SP2=720+480=Rs.1200
