calculate the number of molecules, number of atoms and number of electrons in 1.6 grams of methane.

Open in App
Solution

Mole = Given mass in gmolar mass = 1.616 = 0.1 mole1. No of molecules = mole × NA = 0.1 × 6.023 × 1023 = 6.023 × 10222. No of atoms = mole × NA × Number of atoms in the methane molecule (CH4 - 5 atoms) = 0.1 × 6.023 × 1023 × 5 =30.11 × 1022 3. No of electrons = mole × NA × Number of electrons in the methane molecule (CH4 - 6+(4×1) =10 ) = 0.1 × 6.023 × 1023 × 10 =6.023 × 1023
