Solution
Just a single species cannot inhabit a place as the ecosystem is an interacting unit.
Food chains and food webs consisting of different populations and communities along with abiotic components have to be present for the smooth running of an ecosystem.
If there is only a single species, the lifespan of the individuals of that species will be limited as its food source might be missing.
For example, plant species depend upon soil microbes to mobilise nutrients and animals for pollination. Their absence would have made the plants extinct.
