Solution
The particles of solids are closely packed and the empty spaces between the particles are very small. Due to close packing of the particles, they can only vibrate about their fixed position. As a result the energy of the particle in the solid state is very less.
The particles of liquids are less closely packed and the empty spaces between the particles are more when compared to solid. So, the particles can flow. So, the energy of the particle in liquid is more than that of solid.
The particles of gases are very loosely packed and there is a lot of empty spaces between the particles. So, the particles can move freely. So, the energy of the particle in gas is more than that of solid and liquid.
