Solution

Cell wall:

  1. A cell wall is defined as the non-living component, covering the outmost layer of a cell.
  2. The cell wall separates the interior contents of the cell from the exterior environment.
  3. It also provides shape, support, and protection to the cell and its organelles.

Primary cell wall:

  1. The primary cell is situated closest to the inside of the cell and is the first-formed cell wall.
  2. It is mainly made up of cellulose, allowing the wall to stretch for the purpose of growth.

Secondary cell wall:

  1. The secondary cell wall is formed inside the primary cell wall once the cell is completely grown.
  2. Some types of cells consist of cellulose and lignin and these provide additional rigidity and waterproofing.

Characteristics

Primary cell wall

Secondary cell wall

1.FormationFirst formed cell wall, formed by deposition of cellulose.Later formed cell wall. formed by addition of layers.
2.ThicknessThin.Thick.
3.NatureHomogeneous in thickness and elasticity.Heterogeneous and non elastic.
CompositionCellulose is the main component of cell wall.It contains hemicellulose, lignin, pectin, suberin.
