Sequential senescence and synchronous senescence

Sequential senescence:
In sequential senescence, the oldest leaves senesce and die first. The senescence then moves from leaves to the stem to underground parts.
Example: eucalyptus.

Synchronous senescence:
In synchronous senescence, all leaves senesce and die, leaving the stem and roots alive. Example: maple tree.
