An element is a substance that is made up of only one kind of atom, and cannot be broken down using any chemical means.	A compound is a substance made up of two or more elements chemically combined in a fixed proportion by mass.
An atom is the smallest particle that represents an element in a chemical reaction.	A molecule is the smallest particle that represents a compound in a chemical reaction.
For example - Hydrogen$\left(\mathrm{H}\right)$, Helium$\left(\mathrm{He}\right)$, etc.	For example – Sodium chloride$\left(\mathrm{NaCl}\right)$, Water$\left({\mathrm{H}}_2\mathrm{O}\right)$, etc.
