Several social and economic inequalities existed in the medieval India​:
  • A person’s caste, occupation and wealth determined his social status in the medieval society of India.​
  • Kings, nobles, priests and officers enjoyed higher social status.​ People engaged in agriculture and handcraft belonged to lower social classes, thus they had to face a lower status in the society.​ Each caste had its own customs and rituals.​
  • There were several evil rituals and customs that existed during the medieval period such as sati and child marriage.
