The wall and door are in the shape of a rectangle.

Area of a rectangle with length ‘l’ and breadth ‘b’= l $\times$ b

Since the door is not to be painted, we have to subtract the area of door from total area given.

Total area = 8 m $\times$ 4 m = 32 $m^2$

Door’s area = 2.4 m $\times$ 1.2 m = 2.88 $m^2$

$\text{Area to be painted}=(32–2.88)m^2=29.12m^2$

Cost = ₹5/$m^2$

Money to be paid to get the wall painted = ₹$\frac{5}{m^2}$ $\times$ 29.12 $m^2$ = ₹145.6
