Question
Do plants contain chlorophyll?
Open in App
Solution
Chlorophyll:
The principal producers are plants.
They are autotrophs, which means they produce their own nourishment.
They are able to do so because they have a unique process called photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis requires the presence of a green pigment called chlorophyll, which is found in plants.
Chlorophyll is present in chloroplasts, which are small structures found in plant cells.
This is where photosynthesis takes place.
Green plants
can photosynthesise because they contain chlorophyll.
However, there are few parasitic plants in which chlorophyll is absent.
