Solution

Human female reproductive system:

  1. The human female reproductive system includes a pair of ovaries, a pair of fallopian tubes, a vagina, uterus, and external genitalia.
  2. The female reproductive system produces the female gametes and the female sex hormones, provides a site for the fusion of male and female gametes and the development of the child during pregnancy.

(i) Part where eggs develop:

  1. The female gamete called ovum or egg develops inside the structures called ovaries.
  2. Ovaries contain immature eggs from the birth of the female.
  3. After puberty, some of the immature eggs in the ovaries start to mature.
  4. The eggs are normally released once a month.

(ii) Part where fertilisation takes place:

  1. The process of fertilisation occurs in the fallopian tube. In fertilisation, the male gamete called sperm fuses with the female gamete called ovum to form the zygote.
  2. The egg is liberated into the fallopian tube from the ovary, where it combines with the sperm entering the fallopian tube through the uterus.

(iii) Part where fertilized egg gets implanted:

  1. After fertilization, the fertilized egg travels to the uterus.
  2. It attaches to the uterus wall causing its implantation in the uterus.
