The various steps of need satisfying process of motivation are given underneath :
(i) Needs: Motivation process begins with an unsatisfied need, desire or motive.
(ii) Tension: The need causes physical, psychological or sociological tension within an individual.
(iii) Actions: The tension within the individual leads him/her to seek a means or method to satisfy the need and thereby reduce tension through suitable actions.
(iv) Reward: Actions which are executed lead to certain rewards or incentives that are positive.
(v) Goals: The positive reward or incentive is mean to motivation that attempts to stimulate individuals towards achieving goals. These goals consequently match with the organisational goals.
(vi) Satisfaction: Reaching the required goals will tend to restore physiological and psychological balance and minimise the tension created earlier. The minimised tension leads to satisfaction and a new need may emerge commencing the cycle of motivation process.
