Burning of fossil fuels causes air and soil pollution by the following means:
Fossil fuel is a non-renewable source of energy, and it contains carbon particles when they are burnt, they release carbon monoxide, which is a poisonous, colorless compound, and when it is inhaled, it reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.
The air becomes polluted and when clouds forms in the presence of this polluted air, it falls down as acid rain which is very much dangerous and disrupts the soil fertility and destroys the crop.
The above-mentioned points signify that the burning of fossil fuels not only causes air pollution but also it causes soil pollution.
