The problems of adolescence may be related to family, education, health, entertainment, figure, occupations, persons of opposite sex, etc.
The main problems related with adolescence are the followings:
(1) Moral problem: In the society, various moral standards are commonly discussed but in practice our society does not follow them, hence adolescent get disturbed with the double standards of moral values and they revolt against these double standards.
(2) Problems of gender discrimination: Gender discrimination is widely spread in our society. There are strict restrictions on adolescent girls. If they are mentally tough they revolt in these situations or they become prey to mental tensions and inferiority complex.
(3) Problems related to emotional change: Great emotional changes occur in adolescent period. Adolescent become more egoist and they do not want their ego to be harmed. Adolescent are engaged in dreaming and imaginations. This emotional imbalance causes many problems in adolescent.
(4) Problems related to mental change: Mental changes are very fast in adolescent age. There is fickle mindedness in adolescents.
(5) Sex related problems: During adolescence, there is rapid growth and development in reproductive organs. This results in an intense desire for sex in adolescents. This causes many sex related problems.
(6) Problems of social adjustment: In this period of rapid change, adolescents become more emotional. They are usually confronted with the convention of the society. The generation gap also causes hindrances in social adjustment.
