Explain the formation of ionic bond with a sutable example.

Ionic bond is formed due to transfer of electron(s) from metal to non-metal. It consists of cation(+) and an anion(-).
In NaCl , one electron from Na is transferred to 'Cl' and form NaCl. They have Na+ and Cl now.
