Solution
Glomerulus:
The functional unit of the kidney is the nephron.
It consists of a glomerulus and Bowman's capsule which are located in the cortex and filter the blood.
The glomerulus is a network of capillaries where the blood filtration takes place.
As blood flows through the glomerulus, water and solutes from the capillaries are pushed into the capsule as a result of blood pressure through a filtration membrane for urine formation.
The glomerular filtration barrier functions as a highly organized semipermeable membrane.
Glomerular filtrate has water, glucose, amino acids and creatinine.
Of which, glucose and amino acids are rapidly reabsorbed in the blood.
