Solution

Step 1: Finding the area of a square tile and floor of the room

Side of a square tile=5cm

Area of a square tile=side×side

=5×5

=25sqcm

Length of the floor of a room =15m=1500cm(1m=100cm)

Breadth of the floor of a room=6m=600cm

Area of the floor of a room

=length×breadth=1500×600=900000sqcm

Step 2: Finding number of tiles

Number of tiles
=AreaofthefloorofaroomAreaofasquaretile=90000025=36000

Step 3: Cost of the tiles required for flooring

Cost of one tile is 3.50

Cost of tiles required for flooring

=costofonetile×numberoftiles=3.50×36000=126000

So, the number of tiles required for flooring is 36,000 and cost of the tiles required is 1,26,000.
