Question

Find the probability of getting an even sum when you toss two dice simultaneously.

Open in App
Solution

To get an even sum, either we must get two even values or we must get two odd values.
We know that P (E) = P (O) = 12, since both have 3 favourable outcomes out of a total of 6.
Thus, for this compound event, the sample space consists of 4 outcomes: EE, EO, OE and OO, out of which EE and OO are favourable.
Hence, the required probability is 24 = 12.
