Question

Give the difference between solids liquids and gases with regards to diffusion

Open in App
Solution

Explanation

Diffusion is a process where particles move from higher concentration to lower concentration.

Matter exists in three forms solid liquid and gas
The intermolecular force of attraction between the solid molecule is strong as compared to liquids and gas also there is very small intermolecular space in solids as compared to liquid and gas so liquids and gases are able to flow therefore we called them fluids solids are close-packed and not able to flow

Therefore liquids and gases are undergoes diffusion but solids and are not.
