Pollination by wind.

Open in App
Solution

Pollination by wind:

  1. Pollination by wind occurs when wind acts as the pollinating agent as it carries the pollen grains towards the distant female flowers.
  2. Such plants produce a large quantity of pollen grains as a lot of those pollen grains are lost while getting carried by the wind.
  3. The pollens are light, small and dry which makes it easier for the wind to carry them for long distances.
  4. The stigma is also large enough to catch the pollen grains being carried by the wind.
  5. Examples: rice, maize, grass, barley etc.

Final Answer: Two examples of plants where pollination occurs through the wind are rice and maize.
