Solution

Coagulation of blood:

  1. Blood undergoes coagulation where the fluid form of blood is converted into a semi-solid form called coagulum.
  2. The blood clot occurs inside a blood vessel through a process called thrombosis.

The sequence of steps in coagulation:

  1. The ruptured platelets of the blood produce an enzyme called thromboplastin or thrombokinase.
  2. Thromboplastin, in the presence of calcium converts prothrombin which is a plasma protein into thrombin.
  3. Thrombin acts upon fibrinogen, which is a soluble form of a plasma protein and converts it into monomers called fibrin which is an insoluble form.
  4. By the action of a stabilizing factor, the fibrin monomers are polymerized to form a meshwork of fibrin.
  5. The fibrin mesh attracts the damaged blood cells and plasma to form a coagulum at the site of injury.
  6. The coagulum undergoes contraction bringing together the injured walls which undergo sealing.

Hence, the correct order of the given terms in a logical sequence is Platelets, Thromboplastin, Thrombin, Fibrinogen, Fibrin
