The various methods of weed control are:
i. Mechanical Methods: Uprooting, weeding, hand hoeing, ploughing, burning and flooding.
ii. Culture Methods: Proper seedbed preparation, timely sowing of crops, intercropping and crop rotation.
iii. Chemical Methods: Spraying of chemicals like herbicides or weedicides. e.g., atrazine, isoproturon, etc.
iv. Biological; Control: Use of insects or some organisms which consume and destroy the weed plants. E.g., Prickly-pear cactus (Opuntia) is controlled by cochineal insect and aquatic weeds are control by fish grass carp.
