How do prokaryotes organize DNA?

Open in App
Solution

Prokaryotes:

  1. They are organisms that do not have proper cellular organization i.e they lack cellular organelles and a nucleus.
  2. They include the bacteria in this group.
  3. Though these cells do not have a nucleus they do have DNA or RNA in them.
  4. These genetic materials present in the cell helps in the different function of the cell.
  5. They help in replication as well as carry genetic material.
  6. The DNA of prokaryotes is present in a non-membrane bound structure called nucleoid.
  7. The DNA is organised in a single double stranded form in a loop or circle. It is present in direct contact with the cytoplasm.
