Question

How does a liquid change into solid?

Open in App
Solution

(1) The process by which a substance in liquid state changes into a solid-state is called freezing or solidification.

(2) This occurs when a liquid is cooled because, on cooling, the particles lose energy and their movement becomes slow. They then come closer, decreasing the intermolecular force of attraction, and ultimately changing the liquid into a solid.

That's how liquid changes into a solid.
