Question

How does cardiac output affect blood pressure?

Open in App
Solution

Cardiac output:

  1. The amount of blood pumped per minute by each ventricle of the heart is referred to as cardiac output.
  2. It could be determined using the formula.
  3. Cardiac output = heart rate X stroke volume
  4. The number of heartbeats in one minute is defined as the heart rate.
  5. Similarly, the amount of blood pumped by that ventricle each time it beats is referred to as the stroke rate.

Blood pressure and cardiac output:

  1. A rise in cardiac output is accompanied by an increase in blood pressure.
  2. Numerous factors, such as raising the heart rate or stroke volume, the amount of blood pumped out by each ventricle every cardiac cycle increase the cardiac output.
  3. These elements include increased Ca2+ ions, thyroid, sympathetic activation, and different hormones like noradrenaline and adrenaline.
