How is foreign DNA inserted?

Open in App
Solution

Foreign DNA insertion:

  1. At first, plasmid DNA is taken as a carrier of the foreign DNA.
  2. Foreign DNA containing the gene of interest is taken.
  3. The plasmid DNA and foreign DNA are hybridized and ligated using the enzyme DNA ligase.
  4. The recombinant DNA is now introduced into the host organism using various processes such as microinjection, transformation, protoplast fusion, electroporation, etc.
  5. The host organism now replicates the DNA.
