Question

How many cylinder glasses of 3cm base radius and height 8cm can be refilled from a cylindrical vessel of base radius 15cm which is filled up to a height of 32 cm

Open in App
Solution

First we will find volume of vessel

Vessel is cylindrical with radius r = 15 cm and height h =32 cm

Volume of vessel = π r² h = π * 15² * 32 cm3

Glass is cylindrical with radius r = 3 cm and height h =8 cm

Volume of 1 glass = π r² h = π * 3² * 8 cm3

Let N be the number of glasses can be filled

Volume of vessel = N * Volume of 1 glass

N = Volume of vessel / Volume of glass

N = π * 15² * 32 / π * 3² * 8

N = 5² * 4 = 100

Answer : 100 glass we can fill
