Question
How many nucleotides are in the human genome?
Open in App
Solution
Nucleotides in the human genome
The human genome contains 3.1 billion nucleotide pairs in a haploid set.
The nuclear genome comprises approximately 3,200,000,000 DNA nucleotides
These are divided into 24 straight molecules, 50,000,000 shorter nucleotides, and 260,000,000 longer long nucleotides.
Each is contained in a different chromosome.
Thus most cells have 6.2 billion basic pairs.
