Solution

Step 1:

Area of floor=length×breadth

Length=14m

Breadth=12.5m

Area of floor=14×12.5=175m2

Step 2:

Area of tile=length×breadth

1m=100cm

Length=10cm=0.1m

Breadth=7cm=0.07m

Area of tile=0.1×0.07=0.007m2

Step 3:

Number of stones required to cover the floor=AreaoffloorAreaoftile

Number of stones required to cover the floor=1750.007=25000

Rate of flooring=70/100tiles=0.7/tile

Total cost of flooring=area×rateofflooring

Total cost of flooring=25000×0.7=17,500

Hence, 25000 rectangular tiles will be required cover the floor and total cost of flooring is 17,500.
