how you will remove oxygen from copper II oxide

Dear student ,

By adding hydrogen , we can remove oxygen from copper oxide.

When di hydrogen is treated with copper(II) oxide, metallic copper is generate by the reduction of CuO. During the reaction water in the form of steam is also formed as side product

The balanced equation for the above reaction is as follow:

CuO + H2 → Cu + H2O
