Solution

The correct option is A (I), (II)
(I) Filiform apparatus is defined as a prolongation of the synergids beyond the summit of the embryo sac that helps in food absorption and thus, the statement is correct.
(II) Antipodal cells are three haploid vegetative cells in the mature embryo sac of flowering plants that are situated at the opposite end to the micropyle and thus, the statement is correct.
(III) When pollen grains fall on the stigma, they undergo pollination and give rise to the pollen tube that passes through the style and enters into the ovule which enters one of synergids and releases two male gametes there. One gamete fuses with the nucleus of the egg cell and forms the zygote and the other male gamete fuses with the two polar nuclei present in the central cell to form a triploid primary endosperm nucleus. Thus, the fusion of two polar nuclei and male gamete occurs always after and not before the entry of pollen tube. Thus, the statement is wrong.
(IV) The largest cell of embryo sac is the central cell and not the egg cell. Thus, the statement is wrong.
Thus, the correct answer is option A.
